APAC Sales Director-Drive Growth for a Global Payment Leader  

Location: Tokyo, Japan 

My client is a leading global payment company, revolutionizing the way businesses and consumers make payments worldwide. With a commitment to innovation, security, and customer satisfaction, they empower merchants, financial institutions, and consumers to transact seamlessly across borders and currencies. As the company expand their presence in Japan, they are seeking a talented Sales Director to drive the growth strategy and establish market leadership in the region. 

They are looking for an experienced and results-driven Sales Director to lead the sales efforts in Japan. The Sales Director will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive sales strategy to drive revenue growth, expand customer base, and strengthen company’s market position in Tokyo and across Japan. This role requires a deep understanding of the payments industry, a proven track record of building and leading high-performing sales teams, and a passion for driving business success. 

Responsibilities: 

Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve revenue targets and business objectives in Japan, focusing on acquiring new clients and expanding existing relationships. 

Build and manage a high-performing sales team, providing leadership, coaching, and support to drive performance excellence and exceed sales targets. 

Identify and prioritize key market segments, industries, and prospective clients, and develop targeted sales initiatives and marketing campaigns to penetrate new markets and verticals. 

Cultivate strong relationships with key decision-makers, influencers, and stakeholders in the payments ecosystem, including merchants, financial institutions, and technology partners. 

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, operations, and customer support, to ensure alignment and execution of sales initiatives and customer solutions. 

Stay updated on industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory developments in the payments industry, and leverage insights to inform sales strategy and decision-making. 

Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to build brand awareness, generate leads, and expand the company’s presence in the market. 

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance, or a related field. MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred. 

Minimum of 8-10 years of sales experience in the payments industry, with a track record of success in driving revenue growth and building market share. 

Proven experience in building and leading high-performing sales teams, with a strong focus on coaching, mentoring, and developing sales talent. 

Deep understanding of the payments industry, including payment processing, merchant acquiring, e-commerce, digital payments, and emerging payment technologies. 

Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and strategic thinking, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable sales strategies and initiatives. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels. 

Fluency in Japanese and English languages required, with the ability to conduct business negotiations and presentations in both languages.
