Mergers and Acquisitions Director

Our client focuses on acquiring, strengthening, and growing software businesses globally. Joining their Japan venture offers an entrepreneurial journey to replicate the successful business model of their global foodprints.

As the Mergers and Acquisitions Director in Japan, you will lead efforts to identify new acquisition targets and build relationships with existing ones. This role involves creating engagement strategies, impacting the business cycle, and driving growth. You will report directly to the Global Head of M&A and work closely with the Marketing Manager and Business Development team to manage the acquisition process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and manage a network of local partners in Japan.
  • Develop outreach strategies to strengthen relationships with target companies.
  • Conduct market research and maintain an in-depth market map of vertical market software companies.
  • Build a pipeline of qualified acquisition targets.
  • Engage with software company executives, financial advisors, and private equity firms.
  • Participate in industry events to build C-level relationships.
  • Obtain and update financial and operational information in the CRM system.
  • Develop business development team members.

Qualification

  • Degree in Business, Finance, or Economics with strong academic performance.
  • 10+ years in enterprise software sales, M&A business development, or leadership within a software company.
  • Minimum of 3 years of sales experience.
  • Native Japanese and English language skills.
  • Experience in the vertical market software industry is an asset.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and comfort with technical tools.
  • Experience leading a business development team.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM systems.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 25% of the time.
